Scolecite is a hydrated calcium aluminum silicate mineral of the zeolite group, often forming slender needle-like or radiating crystals.
Main deposits: India (the most famous), Iceland, Brazil, the United States and Scotland.
It is usually colorless, white, pale pink or light green, and is relatively soft and fragile.
With a Mohs hardness of about 5-5.5, it is suited to spheres (handle with care) and collector specimens.
